Skittles definitely know what they are talking about when it came to fruit flavor varieties. However not something I would recommend for breakfast and this post is going to be all about my favorite meal of the day. You guessed it BREAKFAST!!! But not just any breakfast meal, the ones packed with my favorite food group- fruits!
One of my on the go breakfast options is the quick and easy smoothie. One glass can contain a delightful array of flavors packed with nutrients and power food combos. My favorite recipe at the moment is mixed berries (packed with antioxidants), natural almond butter (healthy fats), vanilla protein powder (I use Kaizen whey isolate -a very clean protein powder), chia seeds (high in protein and antioxidants), nutmeg (natural pain relief and supports digestive health), banana (said to be the fave fruit of endurance athletes) and almond milk (because I don’t like dairy milk lol). Sometimes if I don't mind the odd color slurping on a greenish blue smoothie I will add some spirulina. Which should be all the time as the health benefits are ridiculous!! I encourage you to google this for yourself, way too many to list! When I don't have anywhere to be I like to indulge and create a smoothie bowl. Instead of blending everything together I use the protein powder, mixed berries and almond milk as my blended base (less milk so that it's the consistency of a thick yogurt) and add everything else in as toppings. You can really go all out and add granola or chopped nuts. Or even use different fruits as your base. You can try out some of the combinations below: Strawberries & Cream
(ps. click on the ingredients in bold. they can be shipped) Strawberries, Yogurt, maple syrup & vanilla (base). Topped with granola/nuts, strawberries, blueberries, pumpkin seeds & chia seeds.
Avocado & Kale Blended kale leaves, almond milk, banana, avocado, ice and honey (base). Topped with raspberries, banana, kiwi, chia seeds and some more honey (I have a sweet tooth!)
Chocolate, peanut butter & Banana Almond milk, banana, ice, peanut butter, cocoa powder and honey (base). Topped with bananas, cocoa nibs, granola and nuts.
Happy experimenting!
